VHDL (abbreviation for Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language) is a hardware description language (similar to a programming language) with which it is possible to describe digital systems.

The development environment to be used depends on the hardware to be programmed. For Xilinx products we use Vivado / SDK.

These are recommended guidelines for VHDL programming at the OST.
They are primarily intended to help the programmer to work more efficiently
and avoid errors.

The guidelines for VHDL are divided into 4 levels. We recommend
level I for initial project work. Level II is optimal for more advanced work. Levels III and IV are intended for projects, whereby it is best to agree on a level to aim for at the start of the project.
